Hangzhou

Since we had no tombs to sweep for Tomb Sweeping Day, we went to a nearby city, Hangzhou, for the long weekend. Hangzhou is known throughout China as one of the most beautiful cities in China, along with Suzhou. There is actually an old Chinese saying : Heaven above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below.

Xi Hu, or West Lake, is the main attraction. Decide for yourself if you think it's a little bit of heaven on earth.

Maybe...but in my world, it goes "Heaven above, Mesa and Gilbert below."

No! The quote means that Suzhou and Hangzhou are equated with heaven, like heaven on earth. You think Mesa and Gilbert are heaven on earth?

Only Gilbert.

Sorry, Ann, that I didn't realize you were joking! I'm sure I overreacted because it is my nightmare to have to move to a place like that! It represents everything I disagree with about city planning and resource/land use. I wish that that lack of foresight were just confined to Gilbert, or even the Phoenix area, but unfortunately it's not.
